How to Import Amazon Receipts into QuickBooks Online (With Itemized Taxes)
Every bookkeeper who manages clients with high-volume Amazon purchases faces the same recurring nightmare: a single Amazon order containing five different items with different taxability rules, bundled discounts, and a lump-sum sales tax figure at the bottom.
When you attempt to split the transaction manually across different expense accounts in QuickBooks Online, basic rounding formulas frequently leave you off by $0.01 or $0.02 compared to the bank feed charge. That 1-cent discrepancy prevents QuickBooks from auto-matching the transaction, causing hours of unnecessary manual ledger reconciliation.
Step 1: Open the Amazon Invoice in Google Chrome
1 Navigate to Amazon.com > Your Account > Your Orders. Select the relevant order and click View Invoice or Printable Order Summary.
Step 2: Auto-Itemize with CartItemizer
2 Open the CartItemizer extension in Chrome. The extension reads the invoice in-memory without sending data to any external server. It identifies each item title, SKU, quantity, base price, and applicable Subscribe & Save discounts.
Step 3: Verify Proportional Tax Allocation
3 CartItemizer calculates the exact tax weight for each item. If rounding leaves a remaining penny discrepancy, it assigns that penny to the largest taxable line item. Your split lines will sum to the exact bank feed total every single time.

Step 4: Export to QuickBooks Online
4 Choose either:
- Export QBO Batch CSV: Generates a pre-formatted accountant import file ready for QuickBooks Online > Accounting > Batch Transactions.
- Copy TSV Grid: Copies tab-separated split columns to your clipboard so you can paste directly into QBO Expense split tables in one keystroke.
