1 Overview

CartItemizer: Receipt Itemizer for QuickBooks is a privacy-first Chrome Extension built for accounting professionals, bookkeepers, and e-commerce operators. The extension parses purchase details, itemizes line items, splits taxes, allocates shipping, and tracks discounts from Amazon, The Home Depot, AliExpress, and Temu invoice and order pages, then prepares QuickBooks-oriented CSV and IIF files for review in the target edition.

We believe financial and bookkeeping workflows require confidentiality. Receipt details, item descriptions, financial totals, and accounting accounts are processed locally and are not sent to CartItemizer. If you choose assisted Pro activation, the purchase key is sent separately to CartItemizer's activation API for verification.

2 Data Collection

The extension does not collect receipt or accounting data. Lemon Squeezy handles purchase details and emails license keys when a customer buys Pro.

Specifically, our extension operates under the following strict boundaries:

• No Personal Information from Receipts: The extension does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, or financial account numbers from receipts.
• No Extension Analytics or Tracking: We do not embed analytics or tracking SDKs in the Chrome extension. Optional, consent-gated analytics on the separate marketing website is described below.
• No Telemetry or Logging: No operational telemetry, crash logs, or diagnostic reports are transmitted to us or any remote server.
• Receipt Data Stays Local: Receipt parsing, categorization, tax balancing, and export formatting run on your device. Pro activation and renewal send only the Lemon purchase key to CartItemizer's API for verification; receipt contents are not sent.

3 Data Storage & Local Persistence

User preferences and export history are stored locally via chrome.storage.local on the user's machine only. No cloud sync.

The extension persists minimal state exclusively within your local Chrome browser profile storage:

• Custom Chart of Accounts mappings and categorization rules defined by you in the extension Options page.
• Default export preferences (e.g., CSV vs. IIF preference, tax allocation preference).
• Extension installation timestamp and lifetime export counter used for local trial status management.
• Temporary cache of the most recently extracted receipt to allow instant re-exporting within the popup UI.
• For assisted Pro activation, the Lemon purchase key is stored in extension-origin IndexedDB in this Chrome profile for renewal. CartItemizer does not encrypt it or sync it.

You may clear this data at any time by clearing your browser extension storage or uninstalling the extension.

4 Passwords & Account Credentials

The extension never accesses, stores, or transmits Amazon, Home Depot, AliExpress, Temu, or QuickBooks login credentials or passwords.

The extension does not intercept input forms, password fields, or session tokens. All scraping takes place strictly after you have independently and securely authenticated yourself into your merchant account. The extension solely reads read-only invoice receipt DOM elements on completed order summary pages.

5 Permissions Explained

In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store policies, our extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary to deliver its core bookkeeping capabilities. Below is an itemized breakdown of why each permission is required:

The extension declares host permissions for:

Host permissions are required to inject the content script that reads order line items, taxes, and totals from supported marketplace and store domains.

The extension activates only when you navigate to specific order detail or invoice pages on these supported domains. It does not inspect browsing activity on any other websites or web applications.

7 Third Parties

Receipt and accounting data are not shared with third parties.

The extension processes receipt contents locally. Lemon Squeezy handles checkout and subscription information. When you activate or renew Pro, the activation page or extension sends the purchase license key to the CartItemizer API, which validates the key and current subscription with Lemon Squeezy. Assisted activation stores the key in extension-origin IndexedDB for renewal. Receipt contents and QuickBooks data are not included.

Separately, the CartItemizer website can use Google Analytics 4 only when a measurement ID is configured and you choose Allow analytics. The site sends page paths and named actions such as Chrome Web Store, checkout, sample-download, and activation-outcome events. These named events do not include clicked URLs, license keys, receipt contents, or email contents. Google Analytics may also collect standard browser, device, usage, approximate location, and cookie-based measurement data; automatic event collection depends on the Analytics property settings.
